Такая трабла возникла - скачал себе дрова ATI под линух(RPM). Пославил. Запустил конфиг. Ответил на вопросы. Он определил мою карточку как radeon x850, хотя у меня x800 GTO. Вроде все ОК. Перезапускаю иксы - система виснет намерто, даже num lock не реагирует. Кто нить сталкивался с чем-нибудь подобным?

1 Необходимо установить пакеты:
-gcc
-make
-kernel-source (должен быть в точности той же версии, что и ядро. Если вы обновляли ядро через интернет а kernel-source ставили с диска, то ничего не получится)
2 Скачайте обычный rpm драйвер.

3 Далее устанавливаем скачанный пакет. Набираем в консоли

У меня не с GL-ем проблеы. У меня вообще иксы не грузятся - монитор теряет сигнал и все...
Да, забыл добавить - карточка PCIE, а не AGP
Взял старый xorg.conf - прописал его - и с ним теперь система не грузится - говорит, что не может framebuffer запустить, хотя консоль во фреймбуфере работает. Странно как-то это все...

И еще вопрос - у тебя монитор через DVI висит?
Блин, это какой-то пипец!!!! Никогда не думал, что с карточками ATI могут быть такие траблы под Линухом. До этого была Nvidia - все летало. C ATI геморрой.... Перерыл кучу доки, излазил весь гуглъ - так и не нашел решения своей траблы. Модуль fglrx теперь собирается без проблем, грузиться, в логах - ни одной ошибки. Однако иксы не хотят грузиться хоть убей!!! Появляется черный экран, и система молчит... Если юзать mesa, то все нормально... Но ведь это не выход? Неужели никто не сталкивался с такой траблой? У меня уже были мысли, может карточка глючная? Но под веником все прекрасно работает, ни одного косяка замечено не было...

У меня после установки ATIшных драйверов была проблема обратная - после закрывания иксов комп вис намертво, монитор либо терял сигнал либо заполнялся разноцветным полем вертикальных линий.
Где-то нашел рецепт: вырубить в ядре Framebuffer Console support. Вырубил вообще все, где встречалось слово framebuffer, перекомпилировался и - вуаля, все фурычет.

Я тоже один раз пробовал настроить драйверы для ATI x850 на компьютер с Gentoo. К сожалению не чего не вышло.
Если кому удалось такое сделать, то поделитесь пожалуйста опытом как это правильно делается.

А проблему я решил следующим образом: перекомпиляция ядра с отключением опций
Graphics support --->
[ ] Support for framebuffer devices
Kernel Hacking --->
[ ] Kernel debugging
После этого драйвкра отлично заработали.

Теперь у тебя всё полностью работает? Можешь по подробней написать, как чего надо настраивать? А то мне надо тоже настроить ATI у друга а я с этим на прямую не когда не сталкивался. Один раз я уже пробовал, провозился весь вечер, но не получилось. Получил черный экран.
