pcAnywhere v.11 Beta _http://www.symantec.com/public_beta/pca/beta_info.html
Цитата: This is the first external beta release of pcAnywhere v11.0. This beta will run until the final product is shipped in June 2003.
New features in version 11.0: pcAnywhere v11.0 adds many new features to accelerate problem resolution, increase security and improve usability.
Remote Management Tools: pcAnywhere v11.0 will add a new suite of remote management tools. These tools take advantage of the secure connection between a remote & host to run commonly used troubleshooting tools. Remote Management tools run on the helpdesk machine but affect the host computer.
Remote Management tools include: Remote Command Prompt
Remote Task Manager - Stop/Start
Processes/Applications
View/Stop/Start Services on the Host
Remote Regedit
Remote Shutdown/lock workstation/logoff user/Reboot
View NT Event log on the host
Edit System Files on the host
View Installed Programs on the host
Updated User Interface & Improved Ease of Use: The interface for pcAnywhere has been completely redesigned. All applications (remote control, file transfer and remote management) now share a common interface allow users to easily change between tools without breaking a connection. We have also added several ease of use enhancements including:
Folder management – Group remote objects into folders (to organize by location, department etc.).
“Quick Connect” - Connect simply by entering the IP address, Phone # or Computer name. No need to create a remote object for every connection.
“Instant Remote Control” - Deploy a thin host to a target machine and instantly start a remote control session. The target machine does not need to have pcAnywhere installed prior to the connection.
“Find a pcAnywhere Host” – Scan the network to find available hosts.
Share connections on a network drive
File Transfer Improvements:
In previous versions of pcAnywhere, as soon as you move a file from the host to the remote in the file transfer interface, everything stops until the file is completely transferred. With the new version, all file transfers occur in the background so that you can continue to queue up additional files while sending in the back ground.
This is done through the new Command Queue feature. With the Command Queue, files can be reprioritized, paused, and deleted from the queue as needed. DOS commands can also be entered in the Command Queue to create simple batch files. Command Queues can be saved for later user and can be sent to multiple computers sequentially. They can even be scheduled using the Windows Scheduler.
Security Improvements: SecurID authentication – Authenticate users via RSAs SecurID tokens. This is one of 13 authentication methods supported by pcAnywhere.
Policy Management – Control which users can access pcAnywhere features and settings based on their Windows credentials.
Software Deployment: Deployment - Use the Symantec Packager to create a customized version of pcAnywhere. Once a package is created, it can be deployed (along with other software) to any Windows NT, 2000 or XP computer. This provides a simple way to combine multiple installations and deploy them to everyone on a network.
A new “Thin Host” option will fit on a floppy disk or can be easily sent via e-mail to a computer that doesnt currently have it installed. Users must have a license for the thin host to deploy it to another machine.
