New Nigerian star Ayila Yussuf is torn between playing for the Super Eagles and Ukraine, according to the November issue of KICK OFF Magazine, which will soon go on sale soon.
Only last week, the former Union Bank of Lagos midfielder crowned his 20th birthday as well as his arrival on the big stage of world football by scoring one of Dynamo Kyivs goals in a 2-2 draw with star-studded Real Madrid in a Uefa Champions League fixture.
Following such a stirring display, experts have tipped the versatile player to become a huge hit with the Eagles.
But Ayila has now told the magazine he will not be part of the Super Eagles team for the 17 November international friendly against South Africa just as Ukraine have brought serious pressure on him to play for them and not his native country.
“I have been told that I have been invited for the South Africa match but Im yet to receive the invitation,” said Ayila.
“I also dont see the possibility of my making it for the match in South Africa.”
The player has also said that he did not receive any invitation for the LG Cup in Libya.
KICK OFF Magazine plans to present a special report on how Football Federation of Ukraine plan to fast track the player getting their citizenship to enable him play for them and not Nigeria.
Ayila is the second Nigerian player to be courted by Ukraine after striker Lucky Idahor, who out rightly turned down their offer and will go on to be capped by the Eagles in one of the build-up matches for the 2002 World Cup.
Коротко: какой-то нигерийский журнал пишет о том, что мы хотим натурализовать Юссуфа. Помоему, очень неплохая перспектива.
