Под Linux фильмы летают. любые. mplayer&vdpau. Кликаешь на файл фильма и он тут же уже воспроизводится. аналогично и с перемоткой/прыжками в любой отрезок любого фильма. mpeg2, h264, wmv - не важно. При этом, процессор может быть нагружен другими задачами (кодирование итд). - Не важно.
