Благодарю. Скажите, а вот - "Windows Commander 5.11 Русская версия"; - я тут увидел у себя в "архивах". Это тоже самое?? - можно эту программу использовать как TC. Поиск по Windows Commander тоже привел привел к TC.

Понятно, есть у меня правда еще - "F7 Total Commander 5.50 32 bit MULTI - KEYFILE".
Тоже древняя версия. А последние версии они лучше?? - т.е., в том смысле, что последние версии (более насыщенные разными дополнительными функциясми и м.б. не такими нужными) бывают не лучше ранних, как например, опера 9.64 мне больше нравится, чем 10-е версии. TC - он для виндос XP и, для виндос 7 тоже годится?

Подавляющее большинство улучшений в новых версиях Тотала либо не влияют на прежний функционал, либо отключаются/переключаются на старое поведение. Исключения из этого правила крайне немногочисленны и влияют обычно не на выполняемые Тоталом функции, а на эстетические чувства пользоватлей (как, например, автоподстановка умолчального имени при создании каталога, на невозможность отключения которой было много возмущённых воплей, но которая, тем не менее, не требует ни единого лишнего клика или нажатия клавиши).

Понятно.
У меня один хороший знакомый, что учавствовал в двух годовых антарктических экспедициях, большой привержененц этой программы.
Если открывает компьютер то, в первую очередь открывает эту программу, а потом уже делает остальное, что нужно. Я года 4 назад открывал тоже ее, да так и не разобрался зачем она - одно) хорошо, что на рабочем столе сразу видно все то, что есть на компьютере. Эта программа бесплатная, или используется какой-нибудь "ключ"?

Я уже больше пятнадцати лет делаю так же, даже при установке Windows (это чуть поменьше, лет около десяти) сразу после установки системы, ещё до установки драйверов, ставлю коммандер. Если уж быть точным, Тотал в роль этого коммандера вступил года полтора-два назад. До него был другой, аналогичный. Ну а ещё ранее был Volkov

Программа условно-бесплатная. О порядке использования в справке всё сказано. Например, здесь и здесь.

Никак не соображу простой вроде бы вещи, даже чтение справки не помогает. Можно ли как-то задать в настройках, чтобы при выборе определенного набора колонок разделитель панелей автоматически передвигался, допустим, на значение 75%. Или чтобы ширина активной панели автоматически подстраивалась под совокупную ширину её колонок.

Пока у меня получается так. что если общая ширина колонок превышает ширину панели, то всё, что правее разделителя, просто уходит за край мира.

Вспомнилось, что знаменитый Norton Commander for Windows 95, выпущенный 15 лет назад, это умел. А ещё он умел по нажатию горячей клавиши превращаться из 2-панельного в 1-панельный и обратно.

Почему?, вероятно, когда вы ставите систему не на чистый ж.диск, т.е. когда еще остались какие-то драйвера, которые м.б. нужно переустанавливать? Или, м.б. только для наглядности сначала ставите ТС?
Можно ли как-то файл подкачки (не найду через поиск виндос у себя в системе этот файл и как он правильно называется?) переместить с помощью ТС? - в справке виндос пишется, что он д.б. - желательно не на системном диске C, а похоже он по умолчанию создается на нем.

Есть мнение, что под своп стоит выделять отдельный раздел. Вне зависимости от того, какая у вас ОС.
Еще есть мнение, что менять расположение свопа в пределах физического носителя вредно, т.к. почти бессмысленно с точки зрения производительности, но мешает снимать дампы пямяти.

Искать файл подкачки не надо — он ничего ценного не содержит и стирается по завершению работы.
Т.е. когда вы задали новое место расположения файла, старый удалять еще рано, нужен ребут. А после ребута на старом месте его уже не будет.
Да, имя его — pagefile.sys, если интересно.

В общем, TC здесь ни при чем.

Не однозначно. Есть и другое мнение: под Windows XP/Vista/7 отдельный раздел под своп выделять не стоит.
Кстати, на этом же настаивает и Microsoft, а его мнение в данном вопросе я бы со счетов не сбрасывал.

Официального релиза 7.56, выложенного автором в свободный доступ, на данный момент нет. Со всеми вытекающими последствиями.

Разделитель панелей именно и только для наборов колонок не позиционируется ни вручную (с запоминанием результата, отличного от других режимов), ни автоматически.
Для быстрого превращения двух панелей TC в одну и наоборот (и вообще для быстрой установки произвольной пропорции ширины панелей) существуют скрипты. Рекомендую на русскому форуме TC почитать, например, здесь или поискать другие варианты по форуму.

Версия не вышла — это предфинальная заготовка для приватного тестирования. То есть по факту всё ещё приватная бета. Дата в истории пока не говорит ни о чём (как и слово Final). Распространение тестерами подобных версий категорически и официально не приветствуется. Поскольку предфинальная версия уходит уже второй раз, намечается повод для разбирательства...
Чего автор ждёт — знает только автор.

Вот именно — "и тому подобный". Обнародованный без ведома и согласия автора до официального объявления о завершении подготовки версии. И дело тут не только в юридической составляющей: было несколько случаев, когда из за найденных уже на предфинальной, самой последней стадии багов вместо выкладывания финала запускался дополнительный этап приватного тестирования.

В шапке — специальный блок, посвящённый русификации. Последний оффлайновый вариант русской справки — для версии 7.04a. Последующие версии справки в работе и будут обнародоваться по мере готовности. По новым фичам TC 7.5x надо либо ждать русскую справку, либо разбираться с новой английской, либо искать/спрашивать на форуме.
Онлайновая версия справки, как легко видеть, сделана для версии 7.0. Используется на форумах (в том числе и мною) как удобный в доступе источник, позволяющий решить многие вопросы (хотя и не все). Кем она делается и будет ли обновляться — авторам русификации неизвестно. Сами мы подобную штуку за недостатком времени пока не планируем.

Silent Update видимо ждем

Ждём не апдейт, а релиз, которого ещё пока не было.

Ваше предположение в данном случае является предоставлением заведомо недостоверной информации (имеется ввиду слово final в названии "псевдо-релиза") => не мешало бы Вам ознакомится с правилами данного форума, а именно с п. 2.14. главы VIII Соглашения по использованию.

Слово Final не я придумал - я его взял из истории версии - дальнейшие рассуждения до официального выхода ни к чему не приведут - посмотрим что изменится

По существу всё правильно, но это в основном то же самое, что было сказано мной. ИМХО, все всё уже поняли. Ждём новый релиз, улыбаемся и машем.
P.S. А слово Final в посте уже было зачищено... Кстати, история версий сама по себе (если отвлечься от её преждевременного обнародования) вполне достоверна.

Увидел), спасибо. Скачал по шапке справку - ?, в пакете с другими документами, для 7.04a - вероятно она ненамного в главном отличается от справки той последней версии 7.55а, что я установил.

Да куда ж мы так торопимся-то? Даже эта страничка ещё не полностью доведена до ума. Пусть автор спокойно обновит всю информацию, включая главную страницу своего сайта, и даст там ссылки. Как только это будет сделано, здесь воспоследует сообщение о релизе по полной форме.
